Teewolds on steam
First of all, you should read about this :
- https://www.teeworlds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=11027
Today, we have deen as main developper of the project DDnetwork.
So, it could be possible for us to submit ddnet as a for steam.
So, what do you think about ?
Please write on forum if you are against it and give your arguments.
Think about that it could bring to our favorite game !

Re: Teewolds on steam
I'm not quite sure with license. Does deen have the permission to put it on steam? I mean DDnetwork is based on the mod DDrace which is based on the game Teeworlds. Who is the founder of DDrace btw?
Also, more players mean more hackers or people who are just nasty. Is DDnet secure enough to deal, maybe with 10k+ players? If i think about recent server attacks I'm quite concerned.
And, if there are more players, maybe even 100k (just in case), where should they play? The more player the more servers are needed, increasing the costs for servers - who pays? Furthermore I'm not quite sure if deen gets a burnout if he contributes too much to Teeworlds. If the community grows deen needs (more) support from others. Otherwise I don't see how this should work.
Last question, does deen even know about your plan?

Re: Teewolds on steam
imp if it gets so far they will be enough people interessted in sponsoring the website or even a map/broadcasts and even sponsor servers
if you have a big audience you can get money from anywhere
steam will just be another step for the project
i mean 64p servers are still small 128 and 256 were already made but arent perfect

Re: Teewolds on steam
As said, more players will bring mode developers and more server.
I talked to deen about this before posting, it's him who asked me to make a poll.

Re: Teewolds on steam
I think it would be very riksy.
If the game expands to fast it could crash.
Imp said a lot important things.
(deen don't want donators. I cant imagine that he wants sponsers.)
Sponsers can change the game. And this changes could be very bad.
-Teeworlds is a very familiar game. If there are thousands of people it would change the Community.
My question to you:
Do you want a quite familiar and funny game and pretty cool community or a big anonymous game with much hackers and a bad community?
Another question:
How do you want to manage the different clients?
There are a lot of people playing DDNet without the DDNet-Client.

The question is: Do we want external sponsers?Ama wrote:imp if it gets so far they will be enough people interessted in sponsoring the website or even a map/broadcasts and even sponsor servers

Sounds like you have a buisness-plan?Ama wrote:steam will just be another step for the project
-64p servers have disadvantages compared to 16p servers. They could be increased if the server are improved to 128 and 256 servers.Ama wrote:i mean 64p servers are still small 128 and 256 were already made but arent perfect

Re: Teewolds on steam
There might be some advantages and many new possibilities with steam but I'm nevertheless against it. Imp and hi_leute_gll already said some reasons and I completely agree with them. I prefer a familiar and simple game with a rather small community.

Re: Teewolds on steam
In the last versions there were some security improvements. But in my opinion teeworlds isn't secure enough for steam. Steam will bring a lot of nice players thats right but it will bring a lot of bad people too. At the last tournaments we saw how fast bad people come when a project gets bigger.

Re: Teewolds on steam
I voted "idc" but i think like imp. And imo there are enough players in Teeworlds actually. But many ppl voted "yes" so why not but i have the same questions than imp about rights.
