Don't cheat on DDNet or you'll get caught, Forris

I don't usually reveal private stories like this, but I'll make an exception now because Forris has been especially persistent in trying to convince me himself and sending multiple people to convince me of his innocence.

What happened? Some of you may remember the extremely Brutal map Falling Down, which is still unfinished. Well, actually it was finished until 2 days ago, but I removed the ranks by Forris & maggi323.

Understandable Forris was pretty mad about me removing the rank and claims that it was not cheated. Well, I'm not convinced and here's why:

They were extremely determined to finish this map. At first they found a bug in the way DDNet's worlwide databases are connected. This allowed them to save the game on GER, then load it twice, once on GER and USA. They repeated this a few times and could replicate their savegame, basically getting an infinite number of tries for each part. Luckily someone noticed and I could remove their saves. Since then it's not possible anymore to save on one server and load on another. You explicitly have to use /save RUS PASSWORD if you want to load the game on RUS server.

Forris & maggi323 actually created dozens of duplicate saves, some with fake names, which took me many hours to remove without hurting legitimate players. I thought the matter would be settled with this, but it turned out it wasn't. What happened next I just figured out two days ago and which led me to remove their rank, because it was cheated:

Move ahead to 29:30 and watch that there is a cut in the video. A cut in a legitimate video would only make sense if the next part needed many tries, so you cut out the failed attempts. But if the next part is faily, then this cut means that they simply played on a test server and cut together the parts at the positions where they failed to create the illusion of a full run of the map. And this part is extremely faily with no teleporters whatsoever, so make your own judgement.

Let's go back a few months: On December 24 Forris had a special Christmas present for me. He found a bug in the map Falling Down and sent me a fixed version. I guess he was not aware that I save all versions of all maps we have, so it's easy to look up when something changed: https://github.com/def-/ddnet-maps

If you download the version from December 25 and look at it with the trained eyes of aaa, then you notice the cheat Forris added:

This little tele 25 in the middle of the screen is the cheat they added:

And finally you get teleported to tele 25 without disabling Super Jump:

Now they have Super Jump for the rest of the map, which makes it pretty easy.

I asked Forris for a demo of the run, but instead he sent me many "proofs" that the run was uncheated and instead he and maggi323 have themselves been spreading a conspiracy about their rank being cheated. It was claimed that I just hate Forris and that's why I removed his rank. One of his proofs was a conversation he allgedly had with maggi323.

So much for your "clear proofs", Forris. Of course I demanded a demo, but he claims to have removed it, what a convenient accident.

So please stop cheating on DDNet.

and... you're giving all the fault on Forris, but even maggi raced... they're my friends but when someone do something he should take his faults...


I want to say, in this community, we're near 100, not so much ( i mean on the forum )... so we know all of us and we get fun togheter... when ddnet will become bigger there will be 1000 person and we will be who started this project, we will be who helped a lot ddnet... i hope our new member will remember us as good makers of this nice game, not as a cheaters... that's what i want...

I don't wanna explain everything, because it takes long to type it on phone because i'm in vacation, but yeah...i know it's my fault too and not just forris fault, it was at a time we were really playing much together and searched for cheats...the save and load bug got fixed fast, we just found it out and used it on falling down because we really wanted to finish the map...but we wanted to tell deen afterwards, which is still a cheat, but we didnt think about it at that time...then forris had the 'great' idea of finding a bug in the map and because we got along well together i played the map with him even though it was a cheat :/ but there are times i get really pissed of forris and i wouldnt do anything like that for him, but at that time i did it... And yeah, we are still trial testers, i never asked for being a trial tester, but sometimes i test maps, mostly solo maps because i can find bugs and also find cheats, yes cheats that i tell the mapper :0 i dont like maps that you can cheat, which is a bit confusing because i cheated with forris...well at least i wasnt the one that made this bug in the map...
Maybe that is enough for you to know, if you want me gone, just tell me, but normally i'm friendly and wouldnt do something against the rules :0 at least not anymore
