DDNet USA servers will disappear on August 1

We don't have a hoster for DDNet USA anymore, since Broken doesn't want to host it anymore. Thanks to Broken for hosting it all the time! Also thanks to eeeee for paying for it for the last year. I'm not sure if we need a DDNet USA server as it has pretty low player numbers. If anyone really wants to keep it and sponsor it for some time, tell me so. Otherwise it will just go down and we'll be left with CAN for North America.

Why is ddrace (or teeworlds generally idk) not that popular in the USA. There live about 300 mio ppl. Thats just the half of europa. But here (especcially GER) are far more than the double amount of USA players .

Number of players on DDNet USA per day: ~200, GER: ~3000. The reason should mainly be publicity. I guess because of Giga, the German TV show that made Teeworlds popular. Then there were also a few European YouTubers afterwards. I haven't seen anything like that for the English-speaking / North America area. Compare with Chile: There was a livestreamer who played the game twice, and since then it's really popular there.

Edit: TW appearing on Steam might help with the North American popularity.

Europa is a moon of some other planet.

But your point has been made.. Only really the FNG community is really going strong at this point in time. The vanilla NA community is nearly non-existent, and the ddnet community is right behind the FNG.

Also I never used the DDNet USA servers despite living in the US ;P I had a better connection to canada

Deen, maybe you can put usa servers only in tournament days... Because people like maple, dinner, mikey12... are very cool.. I ll be sad if they stop play

As far as i know maple and dinner are playing on CAN anyway, don't know where mikey is playing. : o
