I suggest you to put some transparent and change the color of them... i don't like standard unhook as bg.... anyway 2nd it's way better

Usually objects which are farther away have a lower saturation (attenuation caused by the athmosphere) , which is a useful depth cue for players to distingush the fore- from he background.
