Hall of Fame

levi makes an suggestion to improve the website. He thinks the Hall of Fame could be more clear.

Some ideas we have:

If you go in the Hall of Fame you just see many videos in a row.
But how to search some special maps, servers or players?

Maybe we could add a few links to the left. So it would be possible to select the server. (Like on Ranks-page)
On the special Server-pages the videos could be sorted alphabetically. It would be easier to find videos you are looking for.

The next step could be adding something like the Mapper profile for players who are in the Hall of Fame.
If i want to look videos of an player, e.g. Maple, i could go on his profile and see all runs he did in the Hall of Fame.

In further future it would be nice to connect the Player, Mapper and Hall of Fame profile. Than i could see everything on one page or i would have the links at the left.

Yes, would be very nice and easy, but mappers decided to have different names as mapper and as player. Also, many players change their name regularly. Related: You can now set your mapper and player name in your Forum profile: http://forum.ddnet.org/ucp.php?i=178

Just put a Demo-download-button next to the first rank of a map.
I dont care if ppl accept it or not.
At the end they will still play here.
Then u dont need this YouTube Channel with 20/600 Maps.

The amount of videos is increasing all few days and people started to beat other Hall-of-Fame runs. (Look at [School] Hammer).
The most videos have over 300 views. That's not so bad for tw-videos.

So i think it is possible that we will have more videos. I don't think the page can handle a bigger amount of videos.

Of course this changes aren't needed isntantly. But if u want to let it grow up in the future i think they are needed.

U could link different mapper- and playernames manuelly. There aren't hundreds of cases, just a few.

I think most mappers don't change their names, cause their names are a little bit famous.

I don't know the views of ddnet.org, but i don't think the most people look at the forum.
And if i want to see wich maps someone did i don't want so search in the forum until i find a profile with a link.

Just a little update: I tried to copy (and fix for DDNet) the serverside demo recording of Teerace. It worked, but used too many resources, which would cause all servers to lag, so I disabled it again. So we won't get automatic demos of all runs anytime soon.

Maybe there are no demos, cause the Hall of Fame videos are boring?

For example: Compare a standard video of the Hall of Fame with the video Aoe made on Aim 4.0.
