3 or 4 Weeks ago i was rank 8. on Joyride1. Today i was 11. This makes me sad

Here are some ranks which are 99% Faked:
rank1 by "NiCo" on fly out of the hell (we know he isnt that good)
rank1 by "Nealson FAN" on fttl1 (i think this was nealsonTn'P himself)
rank4 by "Warmup" on fttl2 (its his only finished map i mean, come on)

If I moved the ranks to the Maple name, that would be unfair because some of those may be by mikey12, as Broken said, or even other players. Why should you just get all faked ranks by default?

If I moved the ranks to a new name instead, the other players would still have a worse rank because of you.

So the most reasonable decision for me was to remove these ranks instead. I've done this a few times before, I don't know why this comes as a surprise now.

Because you deleted 8 times at the same times, and I procured the demos as proof. Yes It could have been someone else, but why would someone give me the demos when I'm trying to prove my innocence. Also, seeing this is going nowhere, as any attempt to communicate only brings me insults from your part as a result, I give up. Apparently , nothing can change your hatred against me or the idea you have in mind. And Im 'corneum, imagine being top1 and the next day, not having a rank :/. I totally understand your position but I didn't expect those names to stay there.

So you expect me to go through the hundreds of new ranks every day and clean them up? Just don't make fake ranks please.

Having ranks in the top10 as "Maple" and "mB. | maple" on all these maps is also pretty great...

I don't know what to think - it's sad to remove Top 1 of any map, because Top 1 is a proof of human limits and abilities, but on the other hand, somebody could get Top 1 on an unranked server and we may even never heard of it - so it's not like all Top 1s are recorded, but I guess above 99% of them do...
If it's possible to distinguish (by IP address or the replays) which ranks belongs to who, maybe we could rename them and warn the fakers, that we're not going to repair ranks anymore.

I understand Maple's frustration, but I also understand that it's not easy to react fairly now...
The problem is that if we repair Maple records, other people could do the same - and if we won't repair it, the best times in history might be gone forever and never been beaten. Maybe the answer is to bring them back, but without any nickname? That way the record times won't be lost, but we won't have a problem of guessing who made them... It wouldn't look good, though. Maybe we could separate them as the unofficial records, dunno if it'll be of any help.


Anyway, please don't do this shit anymore. We wouldn't have this ethical-methodological mess, if not for some tees who broke the rules. :c


To avoid such situations in the future, maybe we could create an account system for DDNet? Players would login using the DDNet Client or by typing "/login nickname password" and if somebody will finish with a reserved name, he would be prompted to type "/finish nottakenname" to save the record.
I guess my previous idea of kicking the fakers was leaky, because the not-DDNet Client players would have no clue of what's going on, but this solution may be fair for everyone. We could even get the player flag, to prompt him with messages in both English and his country official language.

I have another idea too - maybe it's even better - we could allow players to switch their ranks pages to "supervised mode", in which any record needs to be confirmed by logging in and marking it as a real one (unless it was achieved by a logged-in DDNet Client).


But to be honest, Teeworlds is much more fun with the "just launch and play" approach, so any account system will be unpleasant and I doubt I can support it, even if it solves our problem. I like the freedom of our account-less world...

Maybe just change the ranks to maple instead of deleting them? It looks like broken wasn't too upset about being faked. Otherwise he would complained a lot earlier.

And how do you know who made wich rank without scrolling for hours through IP-lists?


Maple, I know what it means to be proud about a good time, but that doesn't justify faking people.
