Re: Points system
In my opinion as a tester you shouldn't post 10000000 screenshots, editing them all and upload them all.
Instead just go with the mapper and make a testrun, give him/her advices and fix stuff together.
less work and it's more enjoyable.

Re: Points system
sometimes it is annoying to test with mapper
one started to discuss at all the things i wanted to change,
and it takes some time, if you wait at each bug, until he fixes it
sometimes you just dont like the mapper

Re: Points system
Bad maps are part of testing maps, if you have such a big problem with them then you shouldn't even start with testing.^^Ama wrote:nobody is testing becouse most maps in the test section are by people who dont know how to map
Anyway it isn't really a problem to write in the thread that a map is bad and to continue with another map, instead of starting to cry that all maps are bad and don't test any further maps for weeks... Also i think that a good tester should be able to help the new mappers...

Re: Points system
look at adrenaline 4, full servers for 3 days now. if good maps are released, people still play them.

Re: Points system
Adrenaline 4 is one of these special maps you have only once in 2-3 months, you can't compare that with "good" maps.
Good maps like Caldera disappeared after DDmaX-releases.^^

Re: Points system

Re: Points system
Me as a TESTER im not here to help noobs
Im here to release maps if i see a map is good i say it and it will be released within 2-3 days
Caldera wasnt anything special just a map in themix style that we have 20 of so its gonna get forgotten
Adrenaline 4 is not a good map its just too long to get completed so people play it becouse they think they got far
Just like people played Black for some days becouse its something diffrent and they wanted to finish

Re: Points system
You surely arent here to help noobs, but how should they become better in mapping? I mean, looking at me I am the best example, imtg helped me so much and guided me, so i became better and better (:D)
I am just saying, it's easy to map but quite hard to learn mapping qualitative maps.

Re: Points system
I think learn mapping quality maps is not too hard to learn.
You need to know, which parts are good and which parts are bad, you need to know how to make balanced maps, you need to know how to make parts less annoying, you need to know which parts are something special and which not. If you know all this, you are probably able to make a nice map (if you have the ideas).
(oh and btw. if you make a novice 1 star map with only super basic parts and explanations, you will also success since there are not many super basic novice maps, mappers might be able to make good maps without all the stuff i said here)
A mapper with less experience in mapping might be able to make a good map
(e.g. aaa should be able to make a good map, even if he never released a map before)
When i see the first map from somebody, i rather see basic parts everybody knows, and some of them are annoying and/or unbalanced.
If you dont know that much about all these, friends and/or testers can help you to understand and i agree, you probably learn more while playing the map with a tester, but for me it is sometimes annoying (i don`t want to give examples with which mappers i dont want to test, but sometimes i asked a mapper, if i can test with him to explain him stuff about mapping)
In this post i am talking about gameplay, not about design.
