Re: Seagulls
What? The jetpack part is good to learn jetpack (imagine yourself at the first try you use jetpack, then you want some more parts than only 1, so you can learn and improve your skills) . I don`t see a reason for labyrinths beeing bad ^^
Novice maps are often not creative, the parts are really basic and that is okay (why should noobs learn basics at unbasic parts?)
The "creative" rule is not for novice maps, besides that the parts are not copied from other maps.

Re: Seagulls
i guess the connections between the parts are changeable (e.g. with adding unfreeze) and i don`t see that as a reason to not release a map (imagine somebody tells you that your map gets released because of "flow"... novice players also dont care for "flow")

Re: Seagulls
If i got how to do hookfly - its not big deal to learn jetpack - sure. But if I`m so nooby I cant even come to this part (and hookfly not main problem)Welf wrote:What? I`m start playing teeworlds 2 years ago, so I can well remember how I "like" that. No enjoy at all... Just looking for way in spec, and then follow this way... -_- Not so bad, but it was for me like just wasting time.Welf wrote: I don`t see a reason for labyrinths beeing bad ^^
Sure its hard to invented something interested for novices, but creative is not unusual, just make it interesting ( as I can imaginate - many parts really annoing for noob players. Probably map okay for moderate players, but its not moderate)Welf wrote: Novice maps are often not creative, the parts are really basic and that is okay (why should noobs learn basics at unbasic parts?)

If u cant agree with me just look at this for example: standart cool novice part... Its annoing even for me now!
So, Welf, about changings, yea ofcourse it possible to make something good with this, but it will be a different map... So I still dont care about map and fully against release how its looks now.

Re: Seagulls
if i am not often playing ddrace, i could like a short hookfly and then a part on which i can learn jetpack, i don`t see your problem here (some people learn hookfly before they learn to play with jetpack). i don`t see a reason for this beeing bad.BannZay wrote: If i got how to do hookfly - its not big deal to learn jetpack - sure. because you dont like labyrinths, they must be bad? there are a some maps with labyrinths, even some maps with fake ways (e.g. Ama, Bixes and me made good maps with Labyrinth-like parts). So there shouldn`t be a problem with the labyrinth^^BannZay wrote: I`m start playing teeworlds 2 years ago, so I can well remember how I "like" that. No enjoy at all... yeah... the map is harder novice, maybe easy moderate i don`t see a problem in this, since it is balancedBannZay wrote: Sure its hard to invented something interested for novices, but creative is not unusual, just make it interesting ( as I can imaginate - many parts really annoing for noob players. To the screenshot: i agree with you, it is the job of testers to show the mapper these parts and tell them to change it
I think you are not a novice player and you have problems with rating novice maps, because you are a brutal player. Novice players also don`t care that much about quality, they just play ^^ (map shouldn`t be unbalanced).

Re: Seagulls
I'm sharing opinion with Welf, this map isn't gold but after some changes can be released.
For example the background - freeze and tele is really hard to see some times.
This map might be hard novice, but novice players as big group have 100% chance to finish it.
About labyrinth; first time I heard that in this map is labyrinth again, I complained, but when I finished the map...I found that this labyrinth was fun to "explore", and it wasn't anoying!
MAP IS FINE! I'm no longer novice player, but I think that novice players are going to like it. And mb more than other "better novice maps".
DON'T ARGUE WITH PEOPLE WICH HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS! (Don't argue with me...)

Re: Seagulls
There are many bad novice maps. If you are always like "this novice map is bad" then you should have removed 60 of the ~ 100 Novice maps already. You are always thinking in your way and not how noobs would feel when playing the map. But looking at Deen's recent "spent hours for making ranks"-table it seems to be that her maps are well liked (and not only because they are relatively new). I admit that this map is maybe not that good and some parts are a bit bad or annoying but still I think this map is less annoying than many other Novice maps.
At first you didn't even want to release Halloween Night and I have the feeling that map is really well liked

Re: Seagulls
The reason why there are "60" bad maps is that DDNet don't delete any map.
And as i said yesterday to the mapper:
"and noobs also don't want to play the same parts again and again, i know many people who tried to cut the novice server, cause they were bored"
If you take a look on the finishes you will see that there are Novice maps wich are played very often and others wich are played mostly only in the first days after the release until everyone gots his points.
