Maybe make a setting to make a visual change, like if its on then you see the hook forming around the blocks but it still acts normal and of its normal hook? just idea

But that makes no sense then. A change that is just visible is no change and more weird.

I don't see why everybody say "it would change gameplay" like it is a big problem?
I suggest it would be fun to have this thing toggleable.

All I want to say, that new stuff often brings fun. Like slow motion in cobra4. It changes a gameplay, but if you have such unusual thing - it's interesting.

To apply that change you need to modifie game source physics(i think, 90% im sure), so isn't a thing that can be toggleable in a map.

They are tunes.. (just game settings changed)

Thanks for clearing me out. But I still like the idea of blocks that can coil hook.
