No, the biggest point against it they will just attack the new ip
The problem is, Teeworlds in its current state has just too many weak points when it comes to flooding attacks. A DDoS protection can only reduce the traffic of analysable flooding attacks but it might be still possible to attack the teeworlds servers itself (silently). Deen is not going to drop support for vanilla clients so he cannot do important changes to the network protocol.
Hopefully these kids are getting tired...
