Is the design supposed to be 'playable'? Or is it just for the look?
If first applies, I would suggest for further contests to provide a default map with 1-2 parts containing most important features, people have to implement in their design. Would make it comparable on the one hand and on the other a bigger challenge if the design really needs to be usable, which is often the hardest part in creating a design.

PS: You could make a GIF instead of a screenshot so that animations are showable.

This contest is just about the design. I mean your idea isn't bad but I try to keep it simple for now. I'll probably create another topic with a poll for such ideas when this contest is over.
And indeed I could make a gif if someone uses animations. This seems to be a very good idea, thanks.

PS: I've added a rule which should make sure nobody comes up with a different based design than teeworlds.

Maybe just ask someone to make a video of all the entries and then showcase the video so its a bit easier to see all of them instead of 20 screenshots

I'm unsure if a video is really better. I would like to hear other opinions about whether I should do one or not.

It's easier to compare with screenshots, but a video would be fine too.

I think screenshots would show more detail than a video with youtube's compression
