Most mapper do Solo, Brutal and higher Moderate.
Yeah, but Broken is right, the standards for Novice maps shouldn't be all that high. You can't expect totally new parts in every Novice map. They would still be fun to play for new players. Also, we still don't have any map for real noobs to start with, which is really unfortunate. The Novice server is the most popular DDNet server, but has the fewest maps.

Could you explain what you mean with "any map for real noobs to start with"?

There is Basics (with tutorial on "how to jump" lol, how can it get more sophisticated :p), Hook School, Hammer School, Kobra, Pados, Multimap, Epix. They are good starter maps.

I would like something easier than all of them. A real tutorial map, like you have it in other games.

Maps which are made to teach the basics like the HRace series for example are usually faily, because the player is forced to play the basics again and again to finish the map and this leads to true learning of basics.

HRace is a great series, I could work with the mapper Bee to submit them

Hey dear DDNet Community,
first of all i totally agree with Broken about the thing with declining Maps, the 2cents are worth if only 1 players enjoy the map :).
On the otherside, i can understand why Ama is pissed of mappers who dont help with fixing the maps. Imagine u give u free time to test maps and u start to look at the map... only seeing ridicoulus bugs etc. with no brain. I mean ok but ~10 times the same shit not funny though. So maybe the testers are in charge to make the mappers help(if they can, if not ask nice :3)
Is there a free Test server with no pw online?
If someone needs help to test a map contact me :)
greets
