But doesn't fixint it imply that people might have used this on all kinds of maps to get faster times and now that became impossible? I don't think we should ever make our physics cause players to be slower. (Making them faster should only be a last resort, like with jetpack)

The thing is, people might not used it on purpose but 110% they used it.
Its just normal, that you use a grenade from a higher position like on a Part of my map Getspeed2 where its somewhat forced to do the part as fast as possible.
As deen said this physic change make people slower.
This "bug" is a part of ddrace for years, people just didnt check that there is a different between the height of your rocket..
How cant you understand the problem?..

I'd like to take a pragmatic approach here: I don't think this has happened very often, and thus I don't think there are ranks depending on this. If it's just the theoretical possibility of races being faster with this bug, then I'd prefer to keep this fixed.

Re-applying the fix was the only way we could even have a discussion about this, otherwise people would have started using this more often.

well this is simply false, u can do a normal triple just fine and consistently with the right timing. idk how it is with freeze triple or other buggy stuff like this(edited)

so the concern is people will use this somewhat newly public bug to get faster ranks? but now that it's fixed any top rank's that used it intentionally or other whys is now not repeatable, this seems to me the physics change deen stood so strongly against in the past (be cause to will invalidate ranks).

these pains are not unique so us; in CS;GO there was a bug that allowed players to 'peek out' (see there opponent) with out being seen them selves that was made public like two weeks before a major tournament, so instead of trying to police every one & invalidate there rank is they exploited the bug they told every one to use it in anyway they see fit, indeed it was a part of the game-play/strategy for that time till it was fixed.

this bug is part of DDnet if you like it or not, technique's, strategies & ways of play change/evolve over time as people learn more & off each other, i've even seen it it my time, you can't fix this, no one can, what you did broke one of the core principle's of ddnet that keep people playing this over so many others; fare competition against anyone for as long as ddnet exists.

i hope i have outlined the core principles here & have not made the circumstance sound too dire, but don't play god.

Edit:upon thinking about it more clearly i'll say; this bug being common knowledge means every one would (& did?) try to use it, this it not fare to racers of the past of whom did not know about this bug. in this light i'm glad it's fixed.

My idea was that this bug was unlikely to be used unintentionally to race in a way that creates an unbeatable time.
