I'm not a lawyer, but is the permission to use somebody's map on a server equal to giving away author's rights to it and granting them exclusively to that server's admin? I really don't think so. It would be the case probably only if the mappers agreed to pass the copyright - which is, I guess, very unlikely.

So yeah - we should check it out and, if I'm right, just ask the mappers. The only problem I see is that some of the mappers may be hard to contact (also - do we know the author of every map? DDNet keeps track of it, which is cool, but I don't remember how it was on DDmaX) and some of the maps were made by DDmaX staff, including Tsin. That's why I think it would be better if we could speak with them and arrange a replacement servers until they'll get back on their feet.

To be honest, I have always seen their map politics a bit off - for example, as far as I remember, they were rejecting maps, if they had been published somewhere else before, even if that place was their author's server. oO I don't get the reasoning behind the Tsin's approach - I really liked him in person and we played together a lot in the golden era of OpenFNG, but I somehow* started playing DDRace seriously on DDNet, instead of DDmaX, so I stayed here (and I'm not going anywhere ^^). It's really sad to see people I like fighting each other. Even though I was a complete noob back in the DDmaX days, I have played some of their maps and now I really miss them (and the people who were playing with me). I hope both communities will manage to finally communicate friendly. I don't want the hard work of mappers, admins and Tsin to be forgotten. :c

But don't you think it's cooler to ask, or atleast talk to Tsin??
I think we all appreciate the work that Tsin did for Teeworlds DDrace history.
And by the way.. Why are you always trying to fight against DDmaX. We should all work together, as one big DDrace community. You don't know Tsin's plans Talk to him <3 Love Mio

Yes, I'm fighting against ddmax and that's why I tested for them, fixed maps, apologized Tsin and now I'm trying to put their maps online :c everything to destroy it!
I was thinking about asking Tsin, but I don't have any contact to him since he blocked me on Skype (long time ago). So I can't talk to him and he hates me. But he could read this topic, it's not a secret
and you don't know what I know, Mio so tell me if there is anything important maybe?

but write - ddmax -? It should be cool ne all maps could be played on right servers, novice, moderate and brutal

The poll says YES, so it's better make another poll where you have to choose if you want a new category, like:
-solo maps
-oldschool maps
-ddmax maps ( with stars points like solo maps: 1star = 4 points; 2 stars = 8 points; 3 stars = 12 points... )

Or a new zone like Spyker said, like:

Ok, time for some updates!

We will run "DDmaX server". 2/3 votes were for Yes.

I have maps (~450), I was fixing them yesterday whole day. It's only fast check on layers size (please stop doing this mistake!!!), unsused/embedded Images (both make the maps smaller so they load faster), maybe background (+HD) if it was really terrible (please use Aspect Ratio!!!) - to give you nice experiences while playing instead of eyecancer. I won't make full tests and change/improve like half of the parts, I'm not a masochist ^^. Gameplay will stay the same.

The idea is to make a new category called "DDracemaX" (just like Solo, Novice, Moderate...) with subcategories 'easy', 'next', 'pro', 'nuts' (like New maps, Dummy maps, 3 player maps etc.) so the maps will be segregated. They will have stars, give points. Maps from DDNet servers will be moved there, I think (yes they are changed, but by mapper or with mappers permission). I know about one mapper who doesn't want his maps here and one map that can't be hosted in DDmaX category, so we will respect it. If we add 5 maps a day, this process should take about 3 months ^^. Maps will be probably added alphabetically - difficulty will be mixed, I will prepare maps in an order and not randomly.

Well, that's it. I guess we could start next week. Any further ideas, opinions?
