Checkpoints

Hello,

I am new in the mapping scene and I have a question.
I am making a solomap with stages, if you finish one stage you get teleported to the next one, easy.
I do not want to use teleporters but instead let people suicide when they fail, is it possible to make people spawn on stage 2 when they suicide, instead of needing to start over at stage 1, I believe checkpoints work different but I saw some other maps that worked with checkpoints.

Look at maps like Joyride. I guess is what you meant actually, whenever you failed you get teleported to the beginning of the last stage.

If you mean something else, you should explain why you want ppl to die before playing the same part again after failing it.

Yes I used the technique of joyride but the only thing I don't like about it is that I have to add tele's to my map. It's ugly and I just don't like it.

Is it a solution to make a kind of "base" with a tele to every stage, if you fail you get teleported to the base instead of stage 1, and if you finish a stage a door will open. Once you open every door you can finish the map.

The only question that I have would be, will the doors stay open when you suicide?

Teleporters do exactly solve your problem. So nobody ever was in the need to find/make another solution.

Sorry but the fact you don't like teleporters is your problem and we can't help you anymore.

Nevertheless I'd like to know why you think teleporters are ugly. I mean you could change their visibility on your own taste. Or do you mean some gameplay related thing.

Ah, I understood you wrong.
You said rather not so I thought you would rather not have me make a map with stages or something like that.
