The main arguement is that it doesn't make really sense to release a mod on Steam if the real game is already there, and that is somehow valid.
As suggested by a few players, it would be way more senseful if there would be any possibility to combine it.

As I wrote on teeworlds-friends, Teeworlds on Steam will probably not support mods. So this is the only way to get the "not a real game" DDNet on Steam. Then we can also offer other mods a spot in our workshop and make them available on Steam like that.

That would kinda again make us "beat" Official-TW under next tons of points, lel

Maybe soon it will be DDNet that should support "base game" in workshop instead of "base game" support DDNet? xD

Wow, I was (more or less) inactive for only two weeks and sooo many things changed :o
I'm still unsure about the planned steam release.. It will be hard to handle the huge amount of new players. Everything will expand quickly and we don't know where this will lead us. I always loved the rather small community, you knew the other players and it almost felt like a big family :D
But well, all things change someday and we'll get used to it..

So anyways, I would love to create a basic ddrace map to help total newbies with their first steps.
It would be just for movements and basic ddrace skills (double jump, then easy drag and first wallhammer etc). So basically, a novice 0star map that can be played as the first ddrace map ever. I will add small explanations everywhere and also write things about freeze, deepfreeze and so on (3sec, you can hammer to unfreeze the other tee etc) I can make a first version in the next few weeks, and then we can decide together what needs to be changed, added and so on.
Sure, it will probably take some time (like all my projects .__.). But if ddnet gets released on steam, we could present a map for the real beginners (even before maps like Season) <3
Videos and other suggestions are still good as well and should definitely be made.

Don't worry. Steam release will not happen, everyone is against it, and the community will keep shrinking until all the remaining 5 players are happy with the other 4.

Meh, I didn't mean it like that :o
It's just a strange imagination to play ddnet on steam. But I'm not against a release, there will be advantages as well.
So, whatever happens I still want to create that newbie map ._.

I think it would be better to set up some training servers, with huge "TRAINING" in name (so the people won't confuse them with normal servers - it would also be good, if we could filter them out). We could enable "/r" on them and fill them with a few easy maps to start with (some old - like Multimap or other easy maps - and some new ones).
