We have just suggested DDNet to Steam Greenlight.

Now we need your support to get DDNet accepted, so that it can be released on Steam! Hopefully this will give DDNet new, enthusiastic players. It would also be nice to have for all the existing DDNet players who want to use it on Steam.

Maybe you have ideas about what to improve!

Thanks to heinrich5991 for offering his Steam account!

Edit:
What I would really like to see is a Tutorial map that we can offer to newcomers, which REALLY explains the game and how to do everything. Optionally we could even add server support, so the server can give you dummies to practice things with.
Edit2: Apparently Ryozuki is working on that!

Yeah...you aren't able to handle the current amount of players, have admins who know nothing about what shall they do. Obviously the next step is to get more players!

Great! It'll bring a lot of new players to us, that's great and will improve whole game. In my opinion it's good move for DDNet.

Yeah, it will be great if we finally will reach 100 topics in Map-Testing.

I personally don't play DD, but I think DD should be the official client simply because it's more fit to be in terms of player base, features/functions, fixes/optimizations, etc. Overall, this is a step to the right direction. I'm sure it will get greenlit since most TW players are DD players anyway. Plus, the players that missed the TW release date on Steam can be caught into the DD release as a net.

With that said, perhaps more features could be added towards supporting vanilla--one example being antiping for flags.

another example: stats
- kills (by weapon)
- deaths (by weapon)
- ration
- flag captures
- killed flag carriers
- grabbed flags
- total ingametime (by mod)
...

Thanks for the nice words, really appreciate it! Yes, I'm absolutely for better vanilla support and flags antiping has to be added: https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/issues/262
