Hello Folks,

I used to play DDNet for a long time as a Brutaler.
I've had some pause, however now I want to start this adventure again!
Unfortunately, I've changed my PC. In the current configuration I have Win 8.1 x64.
I have so many lags in a game and cannot play at all.
Do you know what can be a problem? Are there any additional configuration options to adjust the ping?
In all other games I have average latency 20ms ... so I hope it cannot be a network issue.
What is more the Internet Provider has not changed at all, so the game should run fluently as it was before.
I've tried with some older builds as well as compiling its on my machine - without any positive results.

Do you have any ideas of what could be the problem or how can I try to workaround such issue?

You can check if it's a local problem or network problem by running a LAN server and connecting to it.

Thank you for pointing on this. I've just checked this.
The issue is visible even on the local server. Maybe not so significant as
playing via network, however the disturbing lags are noticeable.

You can try enabling/disabling vsync, checking if the fps are stable with ctrl-shift-d ctrl-shift-g. In f1 you can try gfx_threaded_old 0 and gfx_asyncrender_old 0 and restart client. Does the vanilla Teeworlds client run better?

Unfortunately the fps varies from 12.00 to 59.00 with instant changes.
I've tried mentioned parameters but they didn't help.
Surprisingly, the vanilla client works without any lag... ofc on the DDNet maps.

I will maybe try to virtualize the previous (Win 7 x32) system and try on its.

Try removing the settings_ddnet.cfg while the client is closed, then start it. Then it should have the same exact settings as the Vanilla client.

It sounds like you could have cl_cpu_throttle high (0 is smoothest). Or maybe your graphics card goes into power saving mode because DDNet is so efficient (yes, that happens to some people with vsync on).

Removing the settings_ddnet.cfg helped a little bit. Lags are not so frequent but they appear.
I will try to check and force my graphics card to run with the highest performance. If this not help I will try with mentioned virtualization. I feel like you pointed me the right way.
