Current State of DDNet

Here's what we have with DDNet today:
  1. Hatred from the Teeworlds community against DDNet, for example:
    - Chileans asking me to shut down DDNet Chile as it destroyed the Chilean Teeworlds community
  2. Hatred from inside our community against DDNet and parts of it, for example:
    - Constant fights on the forum
    - Aoe calls it HitlerNet, threatens to sue me personally to remove his maps from DDNet
  3. DDoS attacks make for a terrible playing experience and increase server costs, for example:
    - GER servers under constant attacks for years
    - Brazil and Chile down for weeks
    - No hoster accepts us anymore in Iran
    - At this moment GER, GER2, USA, RUS, Chile, Brazil and South Africa are getting DDoSed
  4. No leadership for the servers after nearly all admins left, for example:
    - No tournaments or other special events, compare to the great stuff KoG does at Christmas
    - No fixes when a server is down or something breaks
    - No one talks to the community and has any idea of what's going on
  5. No more development of DDNet client and server, for example:
    - No client and server releases
    - No Steam release even though we were accepted
  6. Community has become inactive and uninterested in DDNet, for example:
    - F3aR DDRace server is more popular than DDNet GER
    - DDNet has only 12 map releases in a month
  7. No more money to run DDNet beyond December 2015, for example:
    - 14 € donated in the last 3 months with 235 € server costs for the same time
    - I made 450 € loss for DDNet servers so far
My conclusion is to shut down DDNet in the next few days. If you're a server admin and want to run your own DDRace servers, now's a good time to start.

1. Don't know the community, can't say anything about this point.

2. Constant fights might be exagerated but the whole shitstorm around Aoe was pretty serious... And the threat of a law action against you is absolutely ridiculous.

3. In the past months I played a lot on the GER servers and haven't experienced any issues. But I suppose since you are the admin you know what you are talking about.

4. I feel like this is somewhat easy to fix by finding new admins.

5. Concerning Steam, how do you actually get released there? DDNet was Greenlit if I am correct so from there shouldn't it be pretty simple to get released?

6. The map releases... Well, there are few maps released because DDNet wants to keep the quality of those at a high level. It is either quality or quantity, you probably can't have both.

7. Donations are something a bit weird for this community since quite a few members are not adult yet which might be a problem. For those who are adult and do not donate, unfortunately it is their right to do so.

For your conclusion. If you think this is the way to go then I am not going to stop you. However, even though I am still new here, I enjoyed my stay and would really love to see DDNet grow and be better each month. But this would require the effort of the whole community. Which implies no more fights as well as Aoe coming back and starting acting like the adult he is (many may disagree but he is a great mapper and has a lot of influence on quite a bunch of people in here...).

Hopefully DDNet won't get shut down since I have no idea where I would play then.

Hey why not just make me admin? We can see what happens, no harm can be done anyways.

How about donating money instead of making a new ddrace server which will cost the same?

Also Aoe is kind of the guy who destroyed ddnet with his shitstorms...

@deen sad to hear that but i can understand that you dont want to spend this amount of money anymore expecially not for a ddnet which is not the ddnet you wanted.

"No one talks to the community and has any idea of what's going on"

I think this is also the main reason for the less releases.

I'm sad about the client, and don't care about the servers; but ddnet's legacy will "live on in the minds of its lovers".

We've come so far... Should we really let this just go?

*Chileans asking me to shut down DDNet Chile as it destroyed the Chilean Teeworlds community*
Fuck them, shutting down a server is not there business.

*Aoe calls it HitlerNet, threatens to sue me personally to remove his maps from DDNet*
Aoe should apologize for what he said, after that he gets unbanned.

*No leadership for the servers after nearly all admins left*
We've got many long time members who do this, not the easiest way but ut will work somehow.

*DDNet has only 12 map releases in a month*
We need 3-4 new tester, some that are very active with some experience. Many maps didnt get tests for weeks and months.

In the end its deen decision and i will respect this.

If it comes to an end, i wanna thank deen and every one who supported this project. Its been a great with every one of you, DDNet is one of the best experience ive played ever.

THANKS!
