Just mentioning that I often see people who use bots. I think you should punish them before they get too famous and everyone uses them... (ddrace server)

I tought that if the bot client is usualy 708, do a autoban function for that version somehow. Otherwise, even if you ban, they come again and again with new ip.

No, do not ban people for using their own client based on an old version of DDNet client. The client version can only be an indication that someone might be using a bot client, not proof. Never ban someone based on an indication. Rather don't ban someone when you're not 100% sure they're botting and keep observing them and recording demo until you have irrefutable proof. Then ban them and possibly remove their cheated ranks.

@Ryozuki it is a misstake, evryone ca' cjange this number and if a player just use a modification of baumalein, without bots, you will ban an innocent

The most disgusting bot is when you see guys doing their 1 tee boat and help others or cheating parts, I have seen quite a few of these. Other bots like "flying at same point by hooking roof perfectly" seem to get more common as well.

I often see some autoaim bot as well as fly bot(maintain your tee exactly at same height by fast hooking).

Tbh I haven't really seen any bot users on ddnet like 6+ months ago. It feels as if the amount of bot users increases rapidly. If you ignore this I don't want to know what bots they use in 1 year. Probably bots that automatically do parts for them

There's not much that can be done about bot clients:

• Warn people against downloading such clients because they could also contain malware
• Talk to botters about how unfair botting is
• Punish botters by banning then and removing botted ranks

Anti-bot measures can't be implemented easily because they would mostly also impact regular players.

The bots you're talking about have been around for a year or more, someone might just be spreading the client recently.

Well, fly bot can be easily detected by the amount of hook per second, could be an easy way to prevent it.

Is it possible to make some aim-bot detection? And for example attent the cheater, if he ignore - just kill the tee, and back him to the start this way.

P.s.: same way with other cheats
P.s.s: probably detection couldnt be perfect but it would be something on way of cheaters
