Hey first of all im not very sure about this, so tell me if im completely wrong.

but i think the server message which appears when a player has its ddnet-birthday contains a typo/wrong word.

Here is the example:
ddnettypo.PNG
ddnettypo.PNG (15.38 KiB) Viewed 2713 times
shouldnt it be "his/her" instead of "their" ?

Yeah but Sorah is 1 person and not 2+ so it should be his/her/its ?

i think its not totaly wrong but the "their" which is used at the moment, should normally be used when the talking person speaks to many people, from which only one he wants to talk to, but he dont know who.

was that to complicated?

The second usage definiton there should clarify that.

However this really is a confusing word. It feels wrong for me as well, although I'm sure it's used right.

There's no really way to determine what gender the player is, so "their" even though sounding quite weird, is best option in they case. Except if the message would be written like "Happy DDNet Birthday, Sorah! You have finished your first map on DDNet exactly 2 years ago!"

//Hmm, that's not a bad idea though...

I think that fits more to a direct message than a general message on a server referring to a player
