DDNet USA OpenFNG/Zcatch Mod Application
Posted: Tue Oct 25, 2016 7:51 am
Just to clarify! I have no intention of becoming a moderator on DDNet DDRace servers. Just DDNet Zcatch/OpenFNG servers. So please do not flame at me being new to the DDNet community and not posting/helping a lot of the DDNet forums.
About me:
Hi I’m 18 and commonly known as NoHack2Win on USA teeworld servers. My favorite mods are anything instagib including my favorites, OpenFNG and Zcatch, I have spoken English all my life and have been learning Spanish for the past three years. I play up to about 6 hours each day and almost play FNG every chance I get if I see players online. Also I live on the west coast of USA, so I can stay up "late" compared to people on the east coast of USA.
Past experiences:
I have been playing teeworlds for almost three years currently. I currently host many different types on mods on USA servers as well as Germany servers. Since I host many servers, I fluently know my way through the rcon system and also know what extent “admin abuse” goes to and how to not abuse it.
Why I should become a mod:
For an application, many people will expect something along the lines of: “When I become a mod, I will mute the insulters/spammers, find and detect botters, and etc.” Of course those are the fundamental roles you will be assigned as a mod and if those are the only reasons someone writes on their application, instant rejection. (Probably same with me if I was choosing a mod for my servers) What my real reason to be a mod for the OpenFNG/Zcatch servers are to stop spoofers. Not many people know about this client in the USA (also including gdin). You may ask how do I know this? To my extent of my knowledge, there is a group of programmers (not saying names) who have created a client that is able to “spoof” (I also having an old version of the client). One example of the client’s function is that if the user with the spoofable client votes to ban someone, the client will connect a bunch of bots (all with different ip’s) and of course, the bots will vote yes (Yes happened to me, also reported to gdin). So the person with the client can basically force “vote yes”. These spoofers specifically target DDNet servers since these mods are spoofable and since they almost always have no moderators or admins online (unlike other fng servers which has many admins active). I have seen many of these actions on both ends. I could potentially stop these spoofers. For the Zcatch servers, many beginners of teeworlds are banned mostly for the reason of “not releasing”. I believe in teaching these people (as all of you guys were beginners too at one point) how to release instead of kicking them from the game. I try to teach these people, but alas, it is always too late before the person is banned. In the long run, you tech-savvy people might say, if people have a spoofable client, they probably most definitely know how to change their ip to come back to the server if they get banned. That is 100% entirely true, but changing ip’s isn’t always instantaneous. I have banned a person on my server with this client over and over as he also changed his ip over and over again. After a while, I guess the other person got tedious and gave up trying to come onto the server. With moderator, I could protect the servers from these spoof clients.
Gdin will approve or disapprove on my application. Please comment on what about you think about me on becoming a moderator.
