new to linux / how to install

Hey man, im trying out linux and i really dont know how to install the client. I have teeworlds from software center installed (ubuntu 14.4) and i can use it. i can use ddnet client from its folder too. but i want to install it, so i can put it into the sidebar. how to?

Maybe you can just drag it into the sidebar? I don't know, I've never used Ubuntu. I can give it a try if that doesn't work. Maybe these threads help:

I don't know what you mean by the sidebar, but I personally just put a script into /usr/bin called 'ddnet' that runs the game from it's dir. So I can just type 'ddnet' into dmenu2 or a terminal and have the game start.

you can also simply press alt+tab while ddnet is open, then you can see ddnet at the sidebar. rightclick on it and click on lock to launcher

He only wants a shortcut in the unity launcher (side bar on ubuntu) for the ddnet client.
