Yo, i'm here to talk a little bit about a problem of the DDnet client.
First of all i have to add that the reason im posting this, is mostly because there is a major problem with DDnet-client users on Instagib servers (don't know how it is on other mods) since the autoreconnect lets them reconnect forever and always when there is connection to the server avaiable.
I don't know if it is possible to change that in some specific directions when they can reconnect with that option and when they can't.

The main problem is that they block the slots on our public server even if they are afk for 5 hours and since we can't actually kick them because they gonna rejoin after that anyways there is the only option to ban them. But after a period of time this won't work either because we aren't actually interested in banning them for 24 hours, neither we aren't interested in checking the server every 5 mins if he is back again and still afk, because they are afk for X hours not playing teeworlds, but still ingame.

Im hoping i'm not asking too much here but isn't it possible that the client checks if you left the server by "connection lost"/kick/ban/left by yourself so the auto-reconnect system only activates if you really lost the connection? or a button where you can enable/disable the reconnect system?

Would appreciate an answere here about some changes or not.

Hm, that's indeed a problem. We could just remove the auto-reconnect, I have no idea what it's good for. But some people would still keep using an old client version. What you can tell the people right now is to use F1, cl_reconnect_ban 0, cl_reconnect_full 0.

Well users with the old version are definetely a problem but your commands are helping alot in the first place. Thanks alot for your help!

I removed the reconnect after ban/kick for the next DDNet release. We now only have auto-reconnects in case of a full server or a connection timeout. You can test it with this version before it's properly released: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3539
