Is it possible to use TeeRace's ghost files in DDNet?
Is it possible to use TeeRace's ghost files in DDNet?
hey guys, so... I was trying to play fastcap with ghosts from other players (like this http://race.teesites.net/media/uploads/ ... Xerhul.gho). But even though I placed the file in the correct folder (ghosts in appdata/teeworlds folder - tried both), the file doesn't show up in the Ghost menu to activate.
I see ghosts recorded by the DDNet client have more stuff in the filename.
So I was wondering if it's possible to use those diff ghost files or whether they are incompatible.
tnx

We changed the naming scheme for ghost files, as you noticed. So you would have to rename if you want old ghost files to work in DDNet:
No guarantee though if nothing else changed.
MAP_NAME_TIME_CRC.ghoNo guarantee though if nothing else changed.
Re: Is it possible to use TeeRace's ghost files in DDNet?
Well, I thought about attempting something like that...
I tried to generate a DDNet-ghost-file's CRC, but what I got was different from what's on the filename. But it worked for the CRCs on any map file.
I'm not really savvy on this subject, so maybe i'm guessing DDNet calculates this in a different way? idk

Re: Is it possible to use TeeRace's ghost files in DDNet?
I checked the ghost file you supplied and it has a different header version than DDNet client's ghosts. So that's why it can't play. Has nothing to do with the filename after all. I guess the only solution is to use an older race client to watch those ghosts.

Okay, thanks
That will have to do then.
Was there any feature/bug-fix reason for the change? Maybe it could be once again compatible in future releases?

No idea, that was many years ago probably.
