infection chilean sv

Post by kosho »

I think it would be nice to change the infection zombie blockers sv, to a traditional infection sv, I'm saying this becouse is kinda sad to see almost always this mode with out ppl, and the traditional infections severs was very popular some time a go in chileans severs.
Then instead of have a 64 ppl empty sever, replace it for a 16 ppl probably full sv.
:)

Do you know where to find the source code of the proper Infection mod? I'll also need configs.

Reviving the classic Infection servers (and maybe the speedhook version too) would be amazing, I really miss this mod (alongside Alien, Catch16 and Battle). The source is probably nowhere to be found, but maybe there are some open alternatives (albeit I haven't played the one mentioned by Kamillentee, so I can't be sure) - we should verify if they haven't changed the gameplay, though. Oh, by the way - Kosho is right that iZombie explosion should be turned on, if that's what this tune changes (iZombie is the first zombie).

While we're at bringing old, legendary modes back to life - is it, by any chance, possible to revive Alien, Catch16 and Battle?
Catch16 (with hidden player names) was really fun and refreshing. Alien was a much more complex and developed variant of Infection. And Battle was an awesome tactic game mode, with features list similar - in terms of length - to the DDNet one.

I think it would be amazing if we could aim to eventually provide at least one server of each important game mode - that would reduce the risk of this wonderful mods becoming forgotten.

Besides the ones I've mentioned before, there are also a lot of mods which haven't extincted yet, but it would be sad if they'll done so: zCatch (standard and speedhook), grenade zCatch, OpenFNG, SoloFNG, mPanic, Monster, zChaos, zEsc, PPRace, City (that Russian one - with real work of carrying hammers, the new one - with trains, the classic one, &c.), Hammerparty, ninja zCatch, Bomb, DDFNG, Football, Table tennis, Basketball (I'm not sure how many ball modes there were, maybe there also was a Volleyball one?), Spaceball (or was it Teeball?), CloseFNG, Dummydrag, Ghost, Race, vanilla modes (CTF, DM, TDM), XXLDDRace, iDDRace, +DDRace, iCTF (and other Instagib modes), gCTF (I don't remember if there were other grenade-based vanilla modes remakes), all the modes with a level system, BoomFNG and probably many others. It's not a bad idea to create a reservation for endangered game modes, I think. ^^

Oh, and the DDNet servers are usually very good, so it's another good reason to have as many game modes here as possible.

Most of these mods are playable on other servers in several countries. So...Why should we add them?

And got critism for this. ;)
Also the openfng server on DDNet GER: It was added when Themix made a map. Sometimes i see 2 people or so on it, most people are playing on servers by GIE, Fear and so.
Before adding new mods it is better to take a look how many other servers there are and if additional server are really needed.
